Ariana Grande is Over 2018 And Ready For The Next YearWritten by Rachel Amburose on November 14, 2018 “thank u, next” Album Art 2018 has been one of the hardest years for many celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Demi Lovato, and Channing Tatum with unfortunate divorces, drug overdoses, and forest fires, but Ariana Grande takes the crown as the unluckiest diva this year. The pop culture icon has suffered the loss of a close friend and has recently called off an engagement. Despite all this, she has demonstrated courage as she consistently releases music that leads the top hits. It all started when Mac Miller died on September 7, 2018, due to a drug overdose. Miller and Grande were romantically involved since late 2016 when they took their relationship public which lasted until May 2018. Grande was tortured with crazy accusations and Miller’s fans blamed her for his death since they broke up recently. Grande then publically excused herself from the Hollywood scene and took some time off to heal. She returned soon, though, with new announcements of music and a surprising engagement with her latest ex, Pete Davidson. Davidson, being a comedian, didn't seem to value their relationship when he made several jokes about their love. During a segment on SNL, he joked that he switched out Grande’s birth control pills with Tic Tacs in order to secure their engagement, which ironically and eventually failed. This joke, alongside many others, drove apart the seemingly-in-love couple and led them to call off their engagement. Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson
Ariana Grande faced a lot of backlash and hate this year that has deeply affected her. Though she evolved musically this year, her love life and personal relationships have failed. Despite this, Grande says she wants to focus on her music. This year, she released an extremely successful album called Sweetener. This album broke Spotify Global Records and debuted as #1 in the Billboard charts. She also released amazing singles like “God is a Woman” and “No Tears Left to Cry” that still remain widely popular globally. She has changed up her style and experimented with new sounds that have all been equally welcomed by her fans. At just 25, Grande has a net worth of $50 million. Recently, she released her brand-new single “thank u, next” that has already claimed the top spot on the Billboard Music charts. It is considered a break-up anthem by the media because of the fact that Grande actually sang her ex-lovers’ names. Most break-up songs don’t actually mention the names since its widely accepted as “petty” to “call people out”, but Ariana Grande revealed she knows no limits when she released the song.Granted, she’s been through so much that her fans and the rest of the media don’t mind and will continue to love and support her.

11/20/18 Article by: Emma Pinnix Photos by: Dream Catcher Photography Going to the Nutcracker Ballet is a tradition for many families in Boone, including my own. My whole family is involved in some way whether they are on the stage, or in the audience. If you haven’t had the opportunity to see this magical show, the Studio K Ballet Company will be performing their version this December 8th and 9th at the Schaefer Center in Boone, NC. The Nutcracker is a story of a young girl named Clara who finds herself in a magical place called the Land of the Sweets along with her new friend the Nutcracker Prince. The two are greeted by several different characters that bring delicious sweets for them to try: hot chocolate from Spain, Chinese Tea, Coffee from Arabia, and many others. After everyone has danced for young clara and her prince, the Sugar Plum Fairy comes to help Clara get back home.
This production is fun for children of all ages and a joy for the dancers to put on. Dancer, Hattie Rose Greene has been dancing in the Nutcracker Ballet for 14 years. She says, “I love every part of the Nutcracker tradition and cannot imagine christmas without performing in the Nutcracker. My favorite part of the ballet would have to be performing on stage under the lights and looking into the audience to see such a joy filled crowd that never fails to renew me with energy and joy while I perform! It’s just so magical!” Greene is dancing the roll of the Grand Pas de Deux this year and does a beautiful job portraying the magical experience that she mentioned above. I couldn’t imagine Christmas without the Nutcracker, it brings families together and shares the true magic of Christmas to the high country. |
